Arab Stock Trading Sees 28.8% Volume Surge in July Amid Lower Values

by admin477351

In July, Arab stock markets experienced a notable surge in trading activity, with the volume of shares traded rising by 28.82% compared to June. The total trading volume reached an impressive 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares in the previous month. This uptick in trading was primarily fueled by significant activity on the Iraq Stock Exchange, closely followed by Egypt.

Despite the increased volume, the overall value of transactions saw a decline, dropping by 16.82% to $90.24 billion in July from $108.48 billion in June. Several major markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, recorded decreases in transaction value. This indicates a complex market scenario where high trading volumes did not necessarily translate into higher transaction values.

The performance of regional stock markets displayed a mixed picture. Notably, Egypt’s EGX30 index emerged as one of the top performers, posting a gain of 5.85% over the month. Meanwhile, other regional exchanges also saw gains, though the overall trend remained varied across different markets.

Despite fluctuations in trading values and mixed market performances, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges showed stability. It saw a slight increase of 0.06%, bringing the total to approximately $4.31 trillion. This underscores a steady foundation in market capitalization amidst varying trading conditions.

The latest figures underscore a rise in trading activity within the Arab region, even as transaction values experienced a downturn. This dynamic landscape highlights the complex interplay of factors influencing Arab equity markets, where trading volumes can rise even when financial values show a different trend.
