Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan Activate Defense Pact for Military Deployment

by admin477351

Türkiye and Pakistan have agreed to deploy military forces to Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Pact, following recent attacks by Yemen’s Houthi group. This decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Alliance in Riyadh. Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman announced that the member states would activate the deployment in response to these attacks targeting the kingdom.

The agreement arises amid intensified conflict in Yemen, where Saudi-backed forces are counterattacking Houthi fighters who captured territory last month. The Mecca Defense Alliance, established on August 7 by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye, functions on the principle that an attack on one member is considered an attack on all three, thereby establishing a collective defense framework.

The current arrangement stipulates the deployment of military forces under existing agreements and in compliance with the laws of the three countries involved. This move signifies a major step in operationalizing the alliance’s collective defense commitments.

The activation of these defense measures underscores the growing regional tensions and the strategic importance of Saudi Arabia’s security to its allies. It also highlights the collaborative military efforts aimed at stabilizing the region in light of ongoing conflicts and threats.
