In a strong stance against recent hostilities, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers have condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and affirmed the Kingdom’s right to self-defense. This declaration was made during the 168th GCC Ministerial Council meeting held in Bahrain.

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the Kingdom’s security is integral to the security of all GCC member states. He criticized the assaults targeting civilians, airports, and other civilian infrastructures as violations of international law.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi also denounced these attacks, warning that continued assaults on airports, energy facilities, and civilian infrastructure pose a threat to regional security and stability. He urged for international intervention to stop the attacks and hold perpetrators accountable.

The ministers addressed several pressing issues, including escalating regional tensions, developments in Yemen, and threats to maritime navigation in critical regions such as the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, and Strait of Hormuz. Albudaiwi particularly condemned Iranian attacks against GCC countries, stressing the importance of respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Following the GCC meeting, the ninth joint ministerial meeting of the Gulf-Russia Strategic Dialogue took place, focusing on enhancing cooperation and exchanging views on both regional and international issues.
