Saudi Arabia and France are enhancing their collaboration in the library sector, focusing on digital preservation, knowledge exchange, and professional development. The initiative was discussed in a recent meeting between Libraries Commission CEO Abdulrahman Al-Asem and French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Patrick Maisonnave in Riyadh.

The discussions centered around an executive program between the Saudi Libraries Commission and the National Library of France. This program aims to digitize library materials, facilitate the exchange of electronic copies, and develop comprehensive digital collections. Additionally, it includes plans for professional training to enhance library management and services in both countries.

As part of their ongoing cooperation, the two parties reviewed joint projects slated for 2026, with the objective of strengthening cultural and knowledge-based ties. These projects are expected to bolster the exchange of expertise and foster a deeper connection between the Saudi and French library sectors.

The meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to advance their library systems through innovative practices and shared knowledge. By investing in digital infrastructure and collaborative training programs, Saudi Arabia and France aim to preserve their rich cultural heritages and make them more accessible to wider audiences.
