Saudi Arabia has expressed strong support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to prioritize diplomacy in resolving the conflict with Iran, according to a statement by the Kingdom’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The minister took to X on Wednesday to commend the U.S. leader’s choice to pursue a diplomatic agreement aimed at ending hostilities with Iran and restoring security and freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, reverting conditions to those before February 28, 2026. This move is seen as a step towards addressing regional security concerns and stability.

President Trump announced earlier in the week that he had postponed a military strike on Iran, initially planned for Tuesday, following requests from Gulf state leaders. He revealed on Truth Social that the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates had urged him to hold off as significant diplomatic negotiations were underway. This development highlights the ongoing efforts and diplomatic engagement aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to the tensions with Iran.

Prince Faisal emphasized that Saudi Arabia anticipates Iran’s constructive response to the diplomatic overtures, which aim to de-escalate the situation. The Kingdom hopes that Iran will seize this opportunity to avoid further escalation and its potentially dangerous consequences. By engaging in dialogue, all parties involved are encouraged to work towards a comprehensive agreement that ensures lasting peace in the region and beyond.

The Saudi minister also extended appreciation to Pakistan for its mediation efforts in the conflict, recognizing the importance of international collaboration in achieving a peaceful outcome. The Kingdom continues to advocate for diplomatic solutions that serve the broader interests of regional security and stability, reinforcing its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
