The “Grok” Truth: Musk’s AI Encyclopedia Rewrites History with Conservative Spin

by admin477351

Elon Musk’s new online encyclopedia, Grokipedia, is now live, presenting itself as an AI-fact-checked alternative to Wikipedia. However, its content is already proving to be heavily skewed by the right-wing views Musk has vocally supported.

The platform, which Musk claims is “super important for civilization,” rejects Wikipedia’s human volunteer model. It relies solely on Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, to generate and verify information. This automated approach appears to be baking in the biases of its owner.

Musk has relentlessly attacked “mainstream media” and sources like Wikipedia, promoting his own platform X (Twitter) as a more reliable source, despite its programming that favors conservative and far-right voices. Grokipedia follows this pattern, with entries that read like conservative talking points.

The most glaring example is the entry for the January 6 Capitol insurrection. It legitimizes the false claim of “widespread claims of voting irregularities” and seeks to downplay Donald Trump’s role in the event, suggesting the riot was a “legitimate expression of grievances.”

This historical revisionism is paired with factual inaccuracies on other topics. Journalists have already highlighted claims, such as pornography worsening the Aids epidemic, that are false. The encyclopedia’s launch comes months after an August Gallup poll identified Musk as the most disliked public figure in the U.S.
